CHEVIVAC-S vaccine - (salmonella typhimurium live vaccine for pigeons) - (1x50 vaccine doses + 1x25ml suspension liquor)
Salmonella typhimurium live vaccine for pigeons
- Stimulates intracellular and humoral immune mechanisms
- Protects pigeons from Salmonellosis
- Duration of immunity: 12 months
See treatment and vaccination plan for active immunisation against Salmonellosis
Â
Salmonella typhimurium live vaccine, lyophilised, for subcutaneous injection after re-suspension. 1 dose (= 0.5 ml of resuspended vaccine) contains:
At minimum: 5 x 106 CFU of an attenuated Salmonella typhimurium strain
At maximum: 0.35 mg bovine serum protein
Â
The live vaccine stimulates intracellular and humoral immune mechanisms, protecting the pigeons from clinical salmonellosis and preventing the adherance of salmonella field strains in case of vaccination of the flock. Duration of immunity after one vaccination: 9 to 12 months.
|
Â
The dry substance, contained in a vial, is to be completely resuspended in the enclosed suspension liquor corresponding to the vaccination doses per vial (1 VD = 0.5 ml).
The immunisation is applied by injection of one dose per bird = 0.5 ml diluted in suspension liquor - subcutaneously dorsally into the neck (lower third of the neck):
Young birds (racing pigeons):Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â after weaning, at the beginning of the 4th week of life, at the earliest
Young birds (fancy pigeons)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 1 week after weaning
Adult pigeons:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â about 4 weeks before mating
Racing pigeons and fancy pigeons:Â at minimum 3 weeks prior to competitions / exhibitions.
Vaccination should be repeated after 9 to 12 months.
Immunisation of the whole flock is recommended.
Â
Special Notices and Warnings •   The original vial and all utensils used for vaccination have to be disinfected after use (disinfectants in common ready-to-use concentration - but not quarternary ammonium based). •   The resuspended live vaccine should be used up within 4 hours. BE CAREFUL, live vaccine! Avoid contact with the vaccine. In case of an accident during vaccination you should consult a doctor. |
Â
- Do not vaccinate birds in bad condition (runt, infestation with parasites); birds showing clinical symptoms; latent carriers.
Allergic or anaphylactic reactions may be provoked by sensibilisation after injection of disgenerous proteins. If chevivac - S is applied in an infected flock, vaccination disease and increased excretion of the field strain are possible.
- Store in a dark place at + 2 °C to + 8 °C / + 36 °F to 46 °F. Do not freeze!
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
